Introducing OpenShift on OpenStack Special Interest Group
October 6, 2016 | by
This month, we’re featuring OpenShift Commons Special Interest Groups (SIG); today’s post is about the OpenShift-on-OpenStack SIG about their mission to facilitate the sharing of best practices, use cases and lessons learned deploying and managing OpenShift, Red Hat’s Enterprise-ready Kubernetes for Developers on OpenStack, the Open Source cloud computing platform.
Kick-off meeting held with a Reference Architecture talk from Dell
We kicked off the OpenShift Commons OpenShift on OpenStack SIG with a presentation by SIG Chair, Judd Matlin of Dell on Dell's Reference Architecture for OpenShift on OpenStack. You can watch the recording of the presentation in the below video.
Currently, the high level scenario that is being discussed in the SIG, is focused on using OpenShift to manage containerized workloads running on top of OpenStack. There have also been a number of discussions around how to leverage deeper integrations between Kubernetes and the OpenStack services themselves. We're always open to new topics and if you'd like to present, please reach out to the SIG Chairs via the mailing list.
Next Up: 1000 nodes of OpenShift on OpenStack
The next OpenShift on OpenStack SIG meeting will be held on October 19th at 9:00 am Pacific and will feature a presentation by Red Hat's Jeremy Eder from Red Hat’s Performance and Tuning team who will be discussing the findings from his work deploying both OpenStack and OpenShift on CNCF.io’s Cluster. He’ll also be discussing the test harness that used to do the scaling tests and the lessons learned.
Face-to-Face SIG meetings at OpenShift Commons Gathering in Seattle, Nov 7
Many of the OpenShift Commons members and many of the guests from past OpenShift Commons Briefings will be connecting in person at the upcoming OpenShift Commons Gathering co-located with CNCF.io's Kubecon.
Check out the stellar lineup of speakers from across the OpenShift ecosystem. The schedule includes plenty of time to network and meet with your peers. There is a Panel discussion with all the SIG chairs on "Community Leadership" will showcase each of the SIG and discuss their roles in the community.
We will be holding SIG face-to-face meetings during the extended lunch break, so be sure to look for the tables with signs for the topic you want to dive deeper on, meet your peers and meet your SIG chair, Judd Matlin.
